‘Valuable and essential:’ Kudos to our EVS staff
National Healthcare Environmental Services Week, Sept. 13-19, gives White an extra reason to thank the team with special lunches, raffle days and treat days.
When Rosemary White considers the 138 employees in environmental services, these words come to mind: Strength. Perseverance. Heroes.
“I want them to know that they are valuable essential workers to our organization,” said White, director of environmental services at USA Health. “I appreciate their efforts coming back each day to provide the best service for our patients and their co-workers.”
The environmental services crews under her supervision fan out across the health system to clean patient and procedure rooms, ancillary areas, offices and more. On an average day, the job is vital to providing a safe environment for patients and employees. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it takes on new meaning.
“During these extraordinary times, I see in employees the ability to respond to ever changing requests to ensure a safe environment,” White said.

“We lost two key members this year,” White said, referring to employees who have passed away. “That has been difficult for the staff. In spite of all this, they’ve shown significant strength and perseverance.”
