USA Health Providence Hospital is pleased to welcome Joe Deylamipour, M.D., as a new nocturnist in Hospital Medicine.

A nocturnist is a physician who works at night, providing continuous and immediate medical care typically in a hospital setting.

Deylamipour earned his medical degree from the Medical University of the Americas in Nevis, an island in the Carribean Sea, and completed his three-year residency program at Ochsner Rush Medical Center in Meridian, Mississippi, where he developed a passion for working as a nocturnist. He served as chief resident for a year. He is also certified in point-of-care ultrasound.

Deylamipour grew up in a medical family, so he always wanted to be a doctor. He enjoys working at a facility with an open intensive care unit (ICU) to treat sick patients.

Alongside his medical experience, Deylamipour taught as a guest professor at Mississippi State University for a year and as a medical instructor at USMLEagle Prep in Orlando, Florida.

“I believe in evidence-based medicine,” said Deylamipour. “Joining an academic center allows a doctor to be in touch with other physicians who keep their knowledge updated and practice evidence-based medicine.”

The nocturnist seeks to learn from others working at USA Health. “I love the fact that USA Health is a tertiary referral hospital where I can have access to a lot of different departments and specialties that can help me continue building up my knowledge,” he said.

During his free time, Deylamipour loves to dive, play tennis and watch soccer. He also used to volunteer at an animal rescue and has his own rescue dog named Memer.
