Frontline providers and employees at USA Health have the opportunity to attend a wellness retreat on Saturday, Nov. 4, at The Lodge at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores.

The daylong Wellness and Healing Retreat Program for Healthcare Professionals is organized by the USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute in partnership with Contenū, a wellness nonprofit, and it aims to address stress and burnout among employees who serve on the front lines of healthcare. The retreat will include health and wellness activities to give participants a space to refresh, recharge and relax.

“The MCI acknowledges the challenges that each of our employees overcomes to deliver high-quality care for our patients and their families,” said Martin J. Heslin, M.D., M.S.H.A., director of the Mitchell Cancer Institute and a speaker at the retreat. “Often, the relentless pursuit of these goals results in stress and burnout, especially as we have emerged from the recent effects of the pandemic.”

The retreat is supported by donations and sponsorships, so registration is only $50 per person, and space is limited. The day, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., includes breakfast, lunch and a boxed dinner, as well as activities such as yoga on the beach, candle making, birding, mindfulness activities, storytelling, and healthy-cooking classes.

To register for the retreat, visit the Contenū event page. Attendees also may book an overnight stay at a reduced rate by contacting The Lodge at Gulf State Park directly.
