Everyone reacts differently to heat, so it is essential to listen to your body and adjust your habits accordingly.

Published Jun 4th, 2024

Summer is coming, and if you’re already sweating in the hotter temps, know that there are things you can do to get better acclimated to the heat.

To adapt to warmer weather naturally, try the following:

  • Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your body cool and avoid dehydration.
  • Dress appropriately. Wear loose, light-colored clothing made of breathable fabrics like cotton to help you stay cool.
  • Use sun protection. Apply sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays and wear a hat or sunglasses for additional protection.
  • Stay indoors during peak heat. Try to stay indoors or in shaded areas during the hottest part of the day to avoid overexposure to the sun.
  • Take cool showers or baths. A quick cool shower or bath can help lower your body temperature and provide relief from the heat.
  • Eat light and refreshing foods. Opt for cool, hydrating foods like fruits and vegetables to help your body stay cool and energized.
  • Use fans or air conditioning. Keep your living space cool by using fans or air conditioning to help you stay comfortable during hot days.
  • Limit outdoor activities. If you need to be outside, take frequent breaks in the shade and avoid overexerting yourself in extreme heat.
  • Stay informed. Keep an eye on weather forecasts and heat advisories to plan your activities accordingly and stay safe in warmer weather.

Remember, everyone reacts differently to heat, so it is essential to listen to your body and adjust your habits accordingly. But by following these tips and gradually exposing yourself to higher temperatures, you can help your body acclimate to the summer heat over time.
