Brown earns state leadership award

Brittany Brown, RN, MSN, NE-BC, director of operations for internal medicine at USA Health, recently received the American College of Health Care Executives (ACHE) Regent’s Early Career Healthcare Executive Award.
“The Early Careerist is recognized for their demonstrated leadership, innovation, and creativity, and their contribution to the advancement of healthcare management,” said Robert Leech, FACHE, the Alabama Regent for the ACHE. “Brittany was selected for this award in recognition of her service on the board of ACHE of Alabama for the past several years, her many successes at USA Health, and her pursuit of being a lifetime learner.”
Each year, ACHE of Alabama recognizes outstanding senior-level and early career healthcare leaders with the Regent’s Award. The recipient must demonstrate leadership in their organizations and in their communities, and support key ACHE goals, which include advancing integrity, lifelong learning, and diversity and inclusion.
“I am grateful to serve with like-minded individuals who want quality, effective and efficient care for our patients,” Brown said. “This award is affirmation that our team in internal medicine is making a difference. They motivate me, they make it all worth it, and I'm grateful for their individual contributions.”
In her role as director of operations for internal medicine, she is responsible for the management and direction of all aspects of operation for more than 15 clinics. Brown began her career as a pediatric intensive care nurse at USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital and as a nurse in the USA Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center.
For ACHE of Alabama, Brown serves as a member of the board of directors, Region 4 co-director and Regents Advisory Council. She is also a member of the Alabama Organization of Nurse Executives and the Gulf Coast Organization of Nursing Leadership.
A member of Mobile Bay’s 40 Under 40 class in 2019, Brown also contributes her time to Aubreigh’s Army, a local cancer support organization, and shares career development expertise with area high school students. She was among the 2023 recipients of the Mobile Community Health Leadership Award, and she also serves on the board of trustees for the Mobile Medical Museum.
She was recognized for two consecutive years in the international Nurses of Note program, established to celebrate the incredible efforts of nurses during the pandemic.
“I'm committed to making a difference, and our health system's mission continues to be a beacon of opportunities,” she said. “My goal is to serve this community, and I will always seek improved and alternative ways to provide care for the people who make up our great city.”
Brown earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from the University of South Alabama with additional certifications in nursing executive health/healthcare administration/management and diversity, equity and inclusion.
ACHE of Alabama, the official chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) for the state, offers continuing education and networking opportunities for its members. ACHE is an international professional society of more than 48,000 healthcare executives who lead hospitals, healthcare systems or other healthcare organizations.
