Dr. Allen Perkins, professor and chair of family medicine at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, recently was named president-elect of the Association of Departments of Family Medicine.

Dr. Allen Perkins, professor and chair of family medicine at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, recently was named president-elect of the Association of Departments of Family Medicine (ADFM).

During the past 25 years, Dr. Perkins has been deeply involved in resident and student education. His current interest is in practice transformation and the delivery of value-based care with a particular interest in care for rural and underserved populations. He has also served as president of the Alabama Rural Health Association and the Alabama Academy of Family Medicine.

The Association of Departments of Family Medicine supports academic departments of family medicine to lead and achieve their full potential in care, education, scholarship and advocacy to promote health and health equity.
