Children’s & Women’s Hospital holding gun lock giveaway Aug. 20
“We believe part of our mission as healthcare providers is to help keep children, their families and everyone in our community as safe as possible,” said Deborah Browning, MSN, RN, CENP.
Through a grant from SafeKids USA, USA Health Children's & Women's Hospital is distributing gun locks at no charge to community residents later this month. Up to two free locks per household will be available.
Research involving children and guns shows that some 59% of children cannot tell the difference between a real and fake gun, according to SafeKids Worldwide.
“We believe part of our mission as healthcare providers is to help keep children, their families and everyone in our community as safe as possible,” said Deborah Browning, MSN, RN, CENP, chief executive officer at Children’s & Women’s Hospital in Mobile. “We’re grateful to SafeKids USA for the opportunity to share these gun locks at no charge to the public.”
To receive the gun locks, residents need to register and pick them up during a safety fair planned at USA Health Strada Patient Care Center on Tuesday, Aug. 20. Please use this link to complete the form.
The gun locks may only be picked up between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Aug. 20 at Strada Patient Care Center, 1601 Center St., Mobile, AL 36604.
