When the Mobile Medical Museum presents its sixth annual Mobile Community Health Leadership Awards in May, three USA Health team members past and present, and a medical student will be among the recipients.

The awards are presented to local leaders in education, awareness, and action around Mobile’s most urgent community health issues. The 2025 honorees include:

Jada Gardner, MSN, RN-BC, director of staff development for USA Health; Veronica Hudson, DNP, MSN, a manager for USA Health Workforce Development; and Nicole Lemon, a first-year medical student at the University of South Alabama’s Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine who also serves as a community volunteer.

Additionally, the late Shelia Ross, DNP, RN, who led the stroke program at USA Health, is being honored posthumously. Ross died Sept. 13, 2024, after an extensive battle with cancer. During her time working for the academic health system, University Hospital was recognized annually with national awards and achievements related to the stroke program she helped build and grow. Even during her cancer treatment, she continued to make TV appearances to educate others about the warning signs of stroke and when to seek care.

“We would like to welcome everyone to this celebration of excellence,” said Michael Lasecki, M.D., president of the Mobile Medical Museum Board of Trustees. “Mobile has had a dynamic medical community for well over 200 years. This tradition of excellence is being carried on by our 2025 honorees. We are proud to present these medical providers and educators to the City of Mobile.”

The awards will be presented during a reception at the Strada Patient Care Center on Saturday, May 17, beginning at 10 a.m. Tickets are $35 per person or $200 for a table of six guests. For more information, please contact Daryn Glassbrook at 251-415-1109 or [email protected].
