After a countdown, patient Kayden King officially helped “light” the tree that is decorated in shades of silver and blue.

Kevin Slaughter, M.D., brings an interest in research focused on clinical outcomes in burn surgery with skin substitutes, acute burn care, and enzymatic debridement.

Jeffrey L. Brewer, M.D., said he is excited to build upon the successes of the department in training new physicians and growing services for adults and children.

Tudor is focusing on strengthening Monroe County Hospital’s services, fostering collaboration among the hospital’s dedicated team members, and ensuring the hospital continues to meet the evolving healthcare needs of community residents.

“It was an incredible night to begin our holiday season of light and love,” said Kim Crawford Meeks, USA Health spiritual care and counseling manager.

“I look forward to using the knowledge and skills I gain from this program to advocate for improved healthcare services in rural communities, especially those in Mobile and along the Gulf Coast,” said Janel Lowman.

“It has been nice to come back to the place where it started. I had some excellent mentors, and hopefully I can be that for the next generation,” said Michael Fesenmeier, M.D.

Located at USA Health University Hospital, the new center provides consultations within 24 hours, rapid diagnostic imaging, less invasive procedures for faster recovery and medical management to prevent kidney stones.

“With the crisis that exists in rural healthcare, USA Health believes our mission extends to supporting the rural facilities and communities in our southwest Alabama region,” said Liz Kirby, MSHA, MBA.

“Quite simply, I was asked many times to step into bigger roles, and I always said ‘yes.’ I love challenges, solving problems and collaborating with others to improve processes,” said Rick Metzger, Providence Hospital CEO.

“We have all the stakeholders present at the table. The next steps will include implementation of strategies, measuring outcomes, and evaluating effectiveness,” said Ashley Williams Hogue, M.D., a trauma surgeon at USA Health and director of the USA Health Center for Healthy Communities.
