About Nasser Lakkis, M.Sc.-M.D., FACC

A respected researcher, educator and clinician, Dr. Lakkis oversees departments including cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, nephrology, infectious disease and others as chair of USA Health’s Department of Internal Medicine.

He has more than 25 years of experience working in academic and clinical medicine, and he brings a well-rounded background in teaching, practice, research and leadership to the department.   

Lakkis serves on review panels and editorial boards for multiple medical journals, and he is a member of many professional societies, including the American College of Cardiology (Fellow), Society of Coronary Angiography and Intervention (Fellow), the American Heart Association, Council on Thrombosis (Fellow), and the Southern Society of Clinical Investigation.    

He is a member of the American College of Physicians, Alabama Chapter of American College of Physicians, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
