Lipid Specialist at USA Health
Lipids are fats, including cholesterol and triglycerides, found in your blood. The level of lipids can be affected by diet, exercise and even genetics. People with type 2 diabetes often have high levels of triglycerides, which can cause coronary artery disease, and low levels of HDL, or the “good” cholesterol that helps your body get rid of excess cholesterol.
Because people who have diabetes are at increased risk for cardiovascular disease, our lipid specialists work with patients to get their levels in the normal range. We use a combination of lipid-lowering medications, diet and exercise to help our patients improve their lipid profiles and their health.
