About Lung Cancer Treatment at USA Health
Lung cancer has the highest mortality rate of any cancer, claiming more victims each year than breast, colon and prostate cancers combined. During the early stage of lung cancer, diagnosing small, peripheral nodules safely can be very difficult. Lung nodules, often called “masses” or “spots,” are more common than you may think. It’s important for your doctor to determine the type of lung nodule you have and whether it is cancerous or noncancerous.
State-of-the-Art Technology for Lung Cancer Diagnosis
USA Health uses state-of-the-art robotics and rapid on-site evaluation to diagnose lung cancer quickly and accurately, reducing the time patients anxiously await results and allowing for faster development of treatment plans. These tools are just part of our Comprehensive Lung Cancer Program.
MONARCH Robotic-Assisted Bronchoscopy
The MONARCH system and ROSE pathology allow for a quick and accurate diagnosis, even for remote areas of the lung. The MONARCH was designed to enhance accessibility while reducing the risk of side effects associated with current methods of lung tissue biopsy. Tissue that is robotically removed from the lung is analyzed within minutes to provide preliminary results. This reduces the likely need for additional biopsy procedures.
Celebrating 450 robotic-assisted bronchoscopies
In November 2023, the Mitchell Cancer Institute proudly celebrated performing its 450th procedure using the MONARCH Platform. In partnership with Pulmonary Associates of Mobile and USA Health Pulmonology, MCI is fighting lung cancer smarter and continually advancing lung cancer care for their patients.
