Nutritional Care for Patients With Diabetes
For patients with either type 1 or type 2 diabetes, proper nutrition is critical. Many symptoms of type 2 diabetes can be alleviated or even eliminated with changes in diet.
Our diabetes specialists, including a registered dietician, work with you to set weight-loss and dietary goals. They evaluate your current eating habits and identify areas for possible improvement. For patients recently diagnosed with diabetes, we recommend a five- to 10-percent weight loss, which can be beneficial in managing their care.
As part of our program, we offer routine cooking demonstrations to help you learn to prepare meals that taste good and help you reach dietary goals.
