About Volumetric Laser Endomicroscopy
Volumetric laser endomicroscopy, or VLE, is an imaging technology used to evaluate and diagnose conditions of the esophagus. For example, VLE is used to evaluate Barrett’s esophagus, a pre-cancerous complication arising from chronic gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). During this procedure, a thin, flexible tube fitted with a probe is guided through the mouth into the esophagus. The probe transmits images to a computer where our clinicians review them and evaluate your condition.
