The Fanny Meisler Trauma Center at USA Health is the only Level I trauma center (prevention through recovery with advanced surgical care) in southwest Alabama, indicating the highest level of care a facility can provide. We believe that the highest level of care is the only level of care anyone would expect to receive in a life-threatening situation. No matter what day a patient arrives, we have a board-certified trauma surgeon in-house 24 hours a day. Every trauma patient who is brought in is assigned a designated trauma team composed of a trauma surgeon, emergency physician, surgical residents, trauma nurse coordinator, emergency department nurses, radiologic technologist, respiratory therapists, and an anesthesiologist or nurse anesthetist.
